It was good since I started using it (in beginning of 2012). But now after the latest update to version 2.3 (mid. 2013), it became very very good and much smarter. It has simple words and verbs conjugation. If you are in doubt because of price (it is not cheap), dont hesitate because it is a good investment!!
Mutig sind die..
Die Anwendung ist toll und stellt den uninspirierten SlovoEd Kram bequem in den Schatten, leider gibt es nicht einen Satz Hilfedatei und man darf sich alles selbst zusammenreimen. Die Anwendung hat drei Modi: Collins Wörterbuch, Konjugation, Zahlen. In jedem davon ist das Suchfeld der einzige Eingabeort und man kann die Übersetzungsrichtung (DE-EN oder EN-DE) umschalten. Befindet man sich im Konjugationsmodus, kann man über den Button "Tenses/Zeiten" auch noch die Zeit (Präsens, Futur etc) wählen, dann werden die entsprechenden Formen für das aktuelle Verb angezeigt. Im Zahlenmodus gibt man einfach eine numerische Zahl ein und das Programm generiert die Textausgabe in der Zielsprache. Alles prima. Der Wortumfang ist immens, eine Thesaurusfunktion oder Audioausgabe gibt es nicht (wird auch nicht behauptet), darüber hinaus Verlauf/History und - das Hammerfeature - interaktive Links: Man kann ein beliebiges Wort im Text antippen und bekommt ein Kontextmenü angezeigt mit den Optionen: Wörterbuch, Konjugation, Google. Die erste Wahl öffnet das markierte Wort im Collins, die zweite in der Ultralingua Konjugationsanwendung und "Google" öffnet eine Googlesuche in Safari. Leider kein Wikipedia Link. Achtung: Der Collins ist kein Lexikon sondern ein erstklassiges zweisprachiges Wörterbuch - es gibt weder Thesaurus, noch Wortherkunft, noch ausführliche Begriffserklärungen und schon gar keine Illustrationen. Wer ein englisches Lexikon sucht, sollte sich American Heritage 4th Edition ansehen, wer ein super Dictionary/Thesaurus sucht und nicht viel ausgeben will WordBook. Dies ist ein reines Übersetzungswörterbuch und zwar das Beste. Keine blöden Wasserzeichen und Copyrights auf jeder Seite, ein echtes Bildschirmlayout, gutes iPhone Interface, eine der besten Quellen (Collins) und ein fairer Preis. Schlägt das grausame Interface des PONS (den ich gedruckt liebe) um Längen.
Für Standardzwecke brauchbar - für Fortgeschrittene reicht der Wortschatz aber nicht
Ich benutze das Programm hauptsächlich, um mir unbekannte Wörter in Englischen und Amerikanischen Büchern zu übersetzen. Da das Programm zu den teuersten Dictionarys gehört, hatte ich natürlich auch recht hohe Erwartungen. Diese wurden jedoch nur teilweise erfüllt. Zunächst zum Positivem: das Programm lässt sich richtig gut bedienen. Die Benutzerführung ist sehr gut, ebenso die ergänzenden Kommentare zu den Wörtern. Leider scheint der Wortschatz mit 115.000 Einträgen nicht ganz auszureichen. Von den gesuchten Wörtern wird bei weitem nicht jedes gefunden. Beispiele für nicht gefundenes: "supine" (Rückenlage) und "ostensibly" (angeblich). iTranslate fand diese Worte ohne Probleme, musste hierfür jedoch natürlich ins Internet. Andere, ungewöhnliche Wörter sind jedoch durchaus vorhanden. So zum Beispiel: "boondoggle" (Verschwendung auf Staatskosten). Ich hoffe, dass der Wortschatz mit der Zeit und einigen Updates noch erweitert wird. Wenn man doch immer wieder zu einem Internetwörterbuch greifen muss, ist der Zweck eines auf dem iPod gespeicherten Programms irgendwie hinfällig.
Conjugator doesnt work well
At version 1.2 conjugator is not working well. It crashes a lot! Its sad but they broke this part of the product with the update from 1.1 to 1.2. Plus the problems with 1.1 still exist... Some verbs are wrong at the "Verbs Conjugator", probably using old grammatical rules. And the fact is: Germany made a reform in 2006, and this product is from 2008. :-/ Another strange thing is that some elementary words, like for example, the verb "to be" ("sein" in German), has explanations part in English and part in German (???)... when using the dictionary to translate from German to English. And this also happens in the opposite way. To be really called "Professional", this dictionary still must to fix these problems.
Ziemlich schwach
Das Programm findet jedes zweite Wort, das ich suche, nicht. Da sind die kostenlosen Wörterbücher, die ich installiert habe, wesentlich besser. Die 20 € waren zum Fenster rausgeschmissen.
